Why We Do What We Do

Every year, countless survivors of domestic violence delay leaving dangerous situations because they fear for their pets. Most shelters cannot accommodate animals, forcing survivors to choose between their own safety and the companions who have been their source of comfort and love.

At Purple Paws for Peace, we believe no one should have to make that choice. We provide trauma‑informed, kennel‑free housing for pets so survivors can escape abuse knowing their animals are safe, loved, and protected.

Our work is driven by compassion, evidence, and experience:
